FAQs: Summer Internships
Where does the internship take place?
The internship takes place at Gospel for Asia's international headquarters in Carrollton, Texas, a suburb of Dallas.
Can I receive college credit for the internship?
You should verify with your academic advisor that the GFA internship meets your university's requirements for academic credit.
How long is the internship?
An internship will generally last four weeks, although GFA will try to accommodate your specific needs. You may apply to come in early summer (May/June) or late summer (July/August).
What types of internships do you offer?
Gospel for Asia offers these specific internships:
- Journalism/Copywriting
- Graphic Design
- Computer Science/IT/Web
- Media Production (audio and/or video production and editing)
In addition, GFA will consider the application of students from other degree programs who are sincerely interested in missions and who are willing to work in whatever area is most needed. We will try to provide a meaningful and relevant work experience but cannot guarantee a fit for every type of major.
What will I do during the internship?
The internship is full-time, approximately 40 hours per week. You will be assigned to a department within GFA and will serve as an active member of that department under the supervision of the department coordinator. Specific activities and work assignments will vary depending on the department, your skills and current ministry needs. You will also attend foundational classes on such topics as the history of Gospel for Asia, GFA Core Values and the spiritual needs of the world. You may also receive practical training as needed on office systems/software.
As an intern, you will participate in prayer times and other meetings required of GFA staff. In addition, there will be optional social and outreach events with other staff and interns.
What are the basic requirements for applicants?
- Age: At least 18.
- Faith: Must be able in good conscience to sign the Gospel for Asia Statement of Faith.
- Citizenship: U.S. citizen, permanent resident or international student in a country where GFA has an administrative office.
- College Status: Junior, senior or recent graduate.
What compensation will I receive for internship?
There is no direct compensation for the internship. You will, however, be provided with room and board for the duration of the internship.
What is the nature of the room and board provided?
You will probably stay in the home of a full-time GFA staff member. Breakfasts and dinners will be provided by your host family, and you will eat lunch in the GFA café.
Do I need a car?
You do not need a car, but you may bring one if you want.
What is the deadline for applying, and how soon will I know if I have been accepted?
Applications will be considered in the order in which they are received. Please allow 3-4 weeks for GFA to process your application.
Is there an application fee?
There is no fee to apply.
