Max Missions Group: from Otago University in Dunedin, New Zealand

Please tell us a little bit about your group (name, location, size, and type of group).

Our group consisted of 5 people. They are Tony, Daniel, YC, KL and Nelson. Tony is from Taiwan and the rest are from Malaysia. We are all in the university cell group and from the same church.

Why did your group take a Max Mission?

Originally, one of our group members read the book 'Revolution in World Missions' by K.P Yohannan. She felt touched and felt that it's quite sad and surprising that there are so many people who have not heard of our Lord Jesus Christ. In the same way, we all shared the same feeling and decided to take on the Max Mission.

What did your group do to raise support for your missionary? How long did it take?

We tried a lot of activities to raise the support for our missionary. At first, we informed our University cell group and church about the mission. From there on, we gathered lots of generous donations. Later, we moved on to selling homemade lunch boxes and washing cars for our fellow church members. The whole period took about 2 months.

What kind of response did you get when you told people about your missionary and invited them to help support your Max Mission?

The response was absolutely amazing. It seems that most of them felt the same way about the 10/40 window. All along the way, our fellow church members were so willing to help. It was really inspiring to see all of us working together as one.

What was the best part of the Max Mission for your group?

Working together. Working with God. Sharing the same passion.

What would you tell someone who is considering taking a Max Mission?

Go for it! You would never know until you try it! You may think it's time consuming or whatever, but I tell you it's a good thing, and you won't have any regrets. When you put your heart and passion into it, it's quite amazing. And of course, you are NOT doing it alone, God is always with you.

How did this trip impact your group and their relationship with God? Did it draw them closer to each other?

This trip has impacted not only our group, but all of our fellow friends and family. It reminded us of how God loves us so much that He gave us His only son, Jesus Christ to save us. In the same way, we felt that it is His love that inspired us to take on the mission. It definitely brought us all closer to each other and Him.

What kind of impact do you believe this will have on the unreached of Asia? On eternity?

The impact is that they will know that they are not alone and definitely not forgotten. God will always be there to hear their cries, help them and love them. On eternity, I hope that there would be more native missionaries to reach out to the lost. I also hope that there will be more people to give support to these brave and courageous missionaries.

Thanks a lot! Any closing comments?

Well, a big thanks to God. Thanks to our fellow 'Dunedin Chinese Presbyterian Church' members. Thanks to our group! God loves us all. Cheers.
