Internship FAQs

What is the Road to Reality Internship?
The Road to Reality Internship is a life-changing year at the Gospel for Asia's home office in Carrollton, Texas. You will enable hundreds of native missionaries to plant churches among the unreached as you grow in true discipleship.

Who is able to apply?
The program is open to dedicated Christian single adults between the ages of 18 and 25.

Where would I be living?
You will be living with other interns and staff, either in apartments or houses.

How will I be reaching the unreached in Asia if I'm living in Texas?
Everything you do while serving here in the home office will greatly help the Gospel to advance in Asia. You will be the essential link between 16,500 native missionaries and their partners in the West. Imagine serving for a year so that hundreds of missionaries can be equipped and go to the field in your place! Now that's multiplication!

What is a typical week in the life of an intern?
Because of the nature of ministry, not every week is the same, and at certain times of year the interns will be involved with special activities, projects or studies. But the schedule below is typical:

Each day, our interns take personal time to fellowship with the Lord, read the Bible and pray. Other activities vary by day:

  • Monday-Begin the day in prayer with GFA staff. Spend the day serving in GFA's home office. Interns serve in a variety of positions, from administrative assistance to answering phone calls to helping with publications. Internship class in the afternoon involves studying and discussing a book of the Bible or another book on deepening our walk with the Lord. Evening meeting with housemates for Bible study and prayer.

  • Tuesday-Spend the day serving in GFA's home office. Evening prayer meeting with GFA staff and families to intercede for the lost world and needs of the ministry.

  • Wednesday-Spend the day serving in GFA's home office. Internship class in the afternoon. Evening meeting with housemates about house issues (cleaning, meals, etc.). Free time at home.

  • Thursday-Begin the day in prayer with GFA staff. Spend the day serving in GFA's home office. Some weeks there is an evening activity with all interns, such as prayer and worship or fellowship time. Other weeks, this might be a free night.

  • Friday-Begin the day in prayer with GFA staff. Spend the day serving in GFA's home office. Internship class in the afternoon. Once a month, there is extended prayer on Friday night. Other Friday nights may be free time with housemates.

  • Saturday-Often there is an activity for all interns, such as a service project, team-building activities or fellowship time. This is also a time to do household chores, study for internship classes or other personal things that need to get done.

  • Sunday-Attend service at a local church. Most of the day is free. Fairly frequently, staff families will invite interns to their house on Sunday. It is also a good time to pray and prepare for the week ahead.

How much does it cost?
$850 a month, $10,200 for the year.

How do I raise the support?
Upon acceptance, we will send you everything you need to encourage friends, family members and churches to give to your monthly needs.

What does the support money cover? Do I need extra money for anything?
Housing, food, teaching materials and a two-week vision tour of the GFA ministry in South Asia are all included in the support money. Your travel to and from Carrollton, Texas and personal spending money are not included.

Do I need to bring a car with me to Texas?
If you have one and live close enough to drive to Texas, feel free. But it is not necessary.

My parents think I will not go to college if I go to the Road to Reality Internship first. Does Gospel for Asia discourage people from attending college?
No. We see the Road to Reality Internship as a way for you to dig your roots deep in the Lord and discern His plan for your life before you make college decisions.

How do I apply?
You can fill out an application online or call to request one at 1-800-WIN-ASIA.
