Summary of current vehicle donation tax law:
If your vehicle is sold at auction and its auction cash sale price is $500 or over you can take the actual sale price as your tax deduction.
If your vehicle brings under $500, whether it is sold at auction or salvage, you may take the fair market value up to $500. See .
To get the most out of your donation, consider the following:
If your vehicle's estimated worth (Kelly Blue Book or N.A.D.A.) is over $10,000, please or call our GFA Office at 1-800-WIN-ASIA (946-2742). We should be able to sell your vehicle for a higher price.
If your vehicle is worth $1,000 or less, and you know it has some mechanical or cosmetic issues, it may be taken to a salvage yard and may only obtain a percentage of its retail worth. In order to get more for your vehicle, you may wish to sell it yourself and donate the cash instead.
