Bridge of Hope Staff Member Loses Family to Bombings
Abishala, a social worker at a GFA-supported Bridge of Hope center, lost two cousins and their children in the bombings that happened on Easter Sunday in Sri Lanka. They had been worshiping inside one of the targeted churches when the attack happened.
This loss has been difficult to bear for Abishala and her family. Bridge of Hope staff is supporting them with prayer during this time of shock and grief.
The people of Sri Lanka are still reeling from the sudden and unexpected terrorist attacks, while the government continues to work on apprehending the perpetrators.
The Sri Lankan president declared a state of emergency in order to maintain public security. A curfew from sunset to sunrise has been being enforced, and many social media platforms are currently being blocked in the country. Officials are doing all in their power to ensure the security of Sri Lanka at this time.

Sri Lanka Bombings Leave the Nation in Turmoil
Easter Sunday morning was a day of terror for many people in Sri Lanka as six bombs went off in and around the cities of Colombo and Batticaloa, killing more than 310 people and injuring more than 500. News reports say the terrorist attack was led by a gang from the Batticaloa district.
Twelve other bombs were reported to be found at various other locations, but they were diffused preventing the loss of more lives. The government officials and military are actively investigating the bombings, trying to apprehend those behind it, but many Sri Lankans are still living with fear and uncertainty about future attacks.

Aftershocks Return Fear to Nepal Citizens
On Easter Sunday in 2019, several churches and hotels in Sri Lanka were bombed, purportedly by suicide bombers. The death toll is up to 310 and includes many people who were attending Easter church services. Our hearts are grieved at this violence targeting Christians during one of the most important events of our faith, and we request that you pray with us for the nation of Sri Lanka during this time.
These bombings are the most devastating attacks since Sri Lanka's civil war ended in 2009.
